Growth Points of 2021

In this reflection I talk about two YouTube videos I uploaded. I also talk about an exchange I had with a YouTube content generator (LiJo). Finally, I talk about an unexpected conversation I had with my sister tonight about our relationship.

bell hooks, Love and Healing

This reflection starts with a conversation about love and the lies we tell ourselves when we want to hold onto toxic love. It ends with a conversation about self-gaslighting which is an inner rationalization process we activate that prevents us from getting our needs met. Teachers Needing to Lead

Most of this reflection is a response to some YouTube content on teacher challenges and the current mass teacher exodus. In it, I both advocate for teachers and challenge them (to organize and push for change). I also share my story of being a school leader who has returned to teaching (and seeing a real gap in leadership across the board!). While I deviated from my typical focus in this episode, I still ended it with a personal growth assignment for all (regarding leadership).

Ready Ready

In this reflection I talk about finally being ready to do trauma healing work. To assist in this process, I will be using two frameworks: 1) Erik Erikson's Lifespan Development and 2) seven types of toxic family systems. There will be a part 2 to this reflection.

Eight Cognitive Functions

In this reflection I talk about visiting family for the holidays (after taking a 12 hour road trip to get here).
